Patti Smith: Dream of Life // Palm Pictures, P.O.V.

Patti Smith: Dream of Life is an intimate portrait of the rock legend. Released theatrically, it was also featured as an episode of the PBS series, P.O.V. It is a documentary comprised of a pastiche of different types of video – much of it taken by Patti Smith, herself. While this made it beautiful and unusual, it also created several research challenges for music identification, as there were moments when it wasn’t apparent where music was coming from, who was playing it, or what it was.
